Surf Experience 25th Anniversary Music Festival - Lagos - Algarve
On the night of 20th May this year the town of Lagos in the Algarve rocked, danced & partied thanks to a free festival event for the Surf Experience 25th birthday. It was the brain child of The Surf Experience's very own Toby Millage or TobyOne to use his DJ name.
The event was completely set up through crowd funding, donations, sponsors & help from local business's, friends & the local community. We also provided our photography service for free. Lagos Camara Municipal supported & helped with setting up the event & it being held at Praça Infante Dom Henrique.
All night time profits from the event went to several charities that included Surfing For The Disabled, Lagos Volunteer Fire Service, local Animal Protection charity & In Loving Memory Of Salvador. During the day a beach cleanup operation was organised for Ocean & Earth with prizes given out on the night.
There was always bound to be a huge crowd for this event. With a huge line up of artists that included the extremely popular Frankie Chavez, the completely crazy & wonderful The Cuban Brothers to the band that gets any crowd jumping up & down, the Dub Pistols. To keep things swinging in between band change overs DJ's Dedy Dred & Rhythm kept the crowd moving.
First up to an already huge crowd was Frankie Chavez & his band.
After Frankie's rock riffs & rhythms came the "Sexy Favours" of The Cuban Brothers bringing their own brand of Funk sounds soul and crazy moves.
What could possibly follow The Cuban Brothers. Only the tightest festival band around, the Dub Pistols! This was guaranteed to be a big show with their mash up of ska-reggae-breaks-jungle and everything else. With one of the best front men around in Barry Ashworth, he had the crowd in his hands from the start.
Keep an eye out for a report on the event in the next edition of Inside Lagos Magazine. A gallery of all the images from the event can be found here.
Big respect to Toby Millage & all who worked hard to get this off the ground and for a hugely successful night.
